Introduction

Ourtown is simply the name of a project which aims to give young people in Lincolnshire a chance to have a say in how their town develops. This project is unique-nothing like this has been done before anywhere-as you delve deeper you’ll see how Ourtown adds that ‘extra dimension’.

The project takes your ideas and visions for your town and converts them into virtual reality so that they can be presented to those who make all the decisions in the town’s development. This way, your ideas can be shown and presented using cutting edge technogy and software that will ensure your views are seen, heard and listened to.

Why needed

Simple! Firstly, most young people are of the opinion that their town ‘sucks’. One of the most common thing you hear when working with young people is “Its crap here, I can’t wait to get out of this hole!”

Secondly, young people’s views get ignored.

Ourtown is about making sure they don’t!  By helping you get your ideas across you can help make things better where you live and get adults and those in ‘power’ stand up and take note of what your saying.

 How does Ourtown work?

The Model

Your ideas will be shown through building a 3D virtual reality model of your town.  This model will be built by taking digital pictures of the town and then using the Ourtown software to turn them into a 3D model.

The Web

A massive part of Ourtown includes THIS WEBSITE!  You can get involved through seeing your model and the models that have been made by other young people and chatting about what you’ve done through the discussion boards.
